Sen. Cory Booker, I appreciate your Kind Words.

Concertina Wired Shorts

Hi, y'all.
Hot on the heels of yesterday's blog, I was reading the newsstand app this morning. In it was a headline:

Sen. Cory Booker questions US prison labor policies, calls for change.

I likely cannot quote the entire article, because this may breach a license agreement with AP (that I lack). However, I do want to quote the senator here:

"Our prisons should reflect the best of who we are, they should reflect our values, and they should, in my strong opinion, be places that are not just for punishment, but for rehabilitation, and for creating roads of redemption."

People, we have people in power, and THIS ONE gets it.

Senator Booker, thank you for saying the words that plainly need to be heard. May you find successes in pursuing Right Action for a highly disadvantaged group.

There were a couple other voices, of which one points out the lack of proper safety equipment and training leading to preventable injuries or deaths. Entirely too true; if OSHA had any oversight on some of the work I have seen done here, it would actually start a safety culture, and maybe, just maybe, translate to a real world skill improvement.

But hey, what we can do is try to push for better. Just a thought. :)
